Obama on Health in Minneapolis
September 12, 2009 my fishing trip to Northern Minnesota was interrupted by the campaign sweep of Obama to Minneapolis stumping for his health care "solution" (like we need one). His trumpeting for heath reform is an acceptable endeavor for the president of the United States, but there is much more to this story and this president.
The president stood at the podium in the stadium packed with cheering hordes as he extolled his panacea for Americas health woes. He began with "we must stop this bickering". I guess it's bickering if you don't agree but debate if you do. Is that the end? No it is not.
He began to wind up that speech like his buddy Jeremiah Wright. He enticed passion and screaming by himself and the audience until you would swear you ware at a tent revival. As I watched this I reflected upon my memories of presidents past. How composed, how sophisticated and presented such a genuine personality. One that came to mind was Ronald Reagan. President Reagan would have been in a suit speaking in a friendly controlled tone as though you were in his living room visiting him. Not Obama, he was in an open shirt pounding, ranting and raving so beneath the dignity of a president.
Other than tent preachers I recall the old movietime news shorts at the theater of Adolph Hitler producing the same theatrical antics as the stole the soul of Germany and executed its citizens.
I am sad but mostly embarrassed.
